Google brings back compass on Maps for Android users

Google is bringing back the compass feature on Maps. “We’re excited to announce the return of the compass on Maps for Android,” it said in a post on the Google Maps help forum.

The compass was removed from Maps for Android in early 2019 “in an effort to clean up the Navigation screen.”

However, owing to user demand, the tech-giant is bringing back the feature.

Google’s Android Auto platform makes infotainment in your car easy, and it’s about to get a new feature. Soon, Android Auto will have games, but not the ones you’re probably thinking of.

Alongside a bunch of other Android announcements made today, Google revealed that it would be bringing a collection of games to Android Auto. This isn’t a collection of video games, like Tesla is bringing to its latest cars. It’s also not Stadia, Google’s own cloud gaming platform. Volvo C40 Recharge is the latest EV with Android Automotive

Google’s car OS today is available on the Polestar 2 and Volvo XC40 Recharge, with many more vehicles coming down the road. Volvo today announced the C40 Recharge as a follow-up that also uses Android Automotive.

The C40’s center console is very similar to that of the XC40 with a portrait screen flanked by vents. Volvo didn’t specify the C40’s display size today, but Android Automotive makes do with a 9-inch panel on the current model.
