$2.26B transportation proposal would be biggest in Utah’s history

SALT LAKE CITY — Utah House legislative leaders unveiled on Thursday a massive, $2.26 billion spending plan for infrastructure — including $1.4 billion in bonding.

But the plan could run into some trouble with some Senate leaders not keen on taking out that much debt.

House Majority Leader Mike Schultz, R-Hooper, is sponsoring HB433, which would authorize the issuance of $1.4 billion in bonds for transportation and transit projects, plus nearly $823 million in one-time general fund revenues.
